A Thousand Words

This project is a window meant to reveal my thoughts and emotions through photography and poetry. By using myself as the model, I aim to capture my presence while displaying my inner dialogue to serve as a moment of vulnerability, confidence, and unfiltered emotion through day-to-day life.

Tied to the portraits are poems I have written in order to put my raw emotions and thoughts on display, acting as a narrative behind the photograph. Together, they invite viewers to reminisce on their own emotions and random thoughts throughout their own day, and encourages them to think about their identities, passions, and pain as we navigate human experiences.

The project is personal and universal as it touches on my own personal struggles and self-discoveries, that many others may also resonate with. I merged these visual and literary forms to embrace that sometimes one might have the words, and others may not. Ultimately, this project is a means to explore how dialect and imagery coexist and how they work together to express human emotion. After all, “a picture is worth a thousand words”, and this is just a few of mine.
